What is technology lock-in?

Technology lock-in? Every LowCode platform has it. But what does it mean? It means that no LowCode platform supports all programming languages. Of course, there are LowCode platforms that are built with very exotic programming languages, but the most popular LowCode platforms are based on Java or .NET.

Wavemaker has focused on making the life of the Java developer easier. There is no database lock-in, because the developer and the company can themselves choose the underlying database technology. Together with Mendix, Wavemaker is perfectly suited to using SAP HANA as the underlying database technology. All other platforms, such as OutSystems, prescribe the database (Microsoft SQL) and can therefore not integrate natively with SAP S/4HANA. This creates duplicate data caches and unnecessary work on building and maintaining tables.
