What are "leaky abstractions"?
A leaky abstraction is one that leaks details it is supposed to abstract away. For example, a platform has a clever way of consuming a soap service that always works....until it doesn't.
A LowCode development platform (LCDP) provides a development environment that can be used to create application software through graphical user (developer-) interfaces and configuration, rather than traditional text-based coding.
With an open LowCode development platform, you can even look inside the code and debug it yourself. However, the most popular platforms like Mendix, OutSystems or Power apps are closed. You are then dependent on the guarantee and the service department of the LowCode vendor. We call this service lock-in.
